
COVID‑19 UAE travel protocol update – changes to entry rules effective 25 December 2021
Please be advised of changes to travel protocol for passengers traveling to/via Dubai effective Saturday 25 December 2021.
Restrictions for inbound & transit passengers to Dubai from Ghana
All passengers arriving in Dubai or transiting through Dubai from Ghana (with the exception of the restricted countries, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Kenya) are subject to the following conditions of travel:
For passengers traveling on direct flights to Dubai:
Must present a negative COVID 19 PCR test certificate with a QR code for a test conducted at an approved facility within 48 hours of departure. Validity must be calculated from the time the sample was collected.
Must present a negative COVID‑19 Rapid or Real Time PCR test certificate with a QR code for a test conducted at the departure airport within 06 hours of departure.
Must undergo COVID‑19 PCR test on arrival and must remain in self‑quarantine until they receive the test result.
For passengers transiting via Ghana to Dubai:
Must present a negative COVID 19 PCR test certificate with a QR code for a test conducted at an approved facility within 48 hours of departure from origin. Validity must be calculated from the time the sample was collected.
Must present a negative COVID‑19 Rapid or Real Time PCR test certificate with a QR code for a test conducted at the last point of departure flight to Dubai within 06 hours of departure.
Must undergo COVID‑19 PCR test on arrival and must remain in self‑quarantine until they receive the test result.
PCR Test Exemptions
Following categories of passengers are exempted from PCR Test requirements when traveling from Ghana:
UAE nationals are exempt from taking a COVID‑19 PCR test before departing for Dubai. They must be tested on arrival in Dubai, irrespective if they are holding a valid negative COVID‑19 RT PCR certificate from the point of origin. This is also applicable for passengers accompanying a 1st degree UAE nationals’ relative or domestic workers escorting a UAE national sponsor during travel.
Employees of Official Missions between UAE and the aforesaid countries.
Members of the Diplomatic missions between UAE and the aforesaid countries;
Holders of a UAE Golden Visa.
Children under the age of 12 and passengers who have a moderate or severe disability are exempt from taking a COVID‑19 RT PCR test.
Ghana approved COVID‑19 rapid or real time PCR laboratories
Leding Terminal 2 Arrivals two mins drive or 5 mins walk from Terminal 3
Frontier‑ Terminal 3 Car Park4, two mins drive or 5 mins walk from Terminal 3. There is also drive‑through facility at the site.
Requirements for check‑in at Kotoka International Airport
A signed, stamped original hard copy of a Negative COVID‑19 RT‑PCR test certificate with a QR code conducted at an approved facility within 48 hours of flight departure time (current flight departure time is 18h50) must be presented when requesting for a COVID‑19 Rapid or Real Time PCR test.
COVID‑19 Rapid or Real Time PCR test to be taken on/after 12h50 hours only (within 6 hours of flight departure time ‑ current flight departure time is 18h50 hours)
Customers will proceed to the counter for check ‑in only after a negative Rapid PCR result.
Check‑in Counters close at 16h50 hours.
All passengers travelling to international destinations must create an account and register on the Trusted Travel platform and take COVID‑19 tests only at laboratories that have the Trusted Travel (TT) logo next to their name on the platform. You must also present the Trusted Travel test (TT) code at check‑in and to Port Health Authorities for verification.
COVID‑19 vaccination requirements
All Ghanaians above the age of 18 who are travelling out of the country must be fully vaccinated effective 00:00 hours of 14 December 2021.
You are considered fully vaccinated when you have taken the full dose of vaccines approved and registered by the Food and Drugs Authority (DFA) Ghana or the World Health Organization (WHO) Emergency Use Listing.
Other information
Passengers must wear face mask appropriately and are advised to regularly use any of the hand sanitizing stations provided in the terminal.
Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least 4 hours before the scheduled departure time.
Please take note of Accra check‑in times for COVID‑19 formalities effective 3 November 2021 (All dates/times are local):
ACC‑ABJ: check‑in 11:25 – 12:25 for 13:25 departure
ACC‑DXB: check‑in 12:00 –16:50 due to COVID‑19 protocols, counters will close two hours before departure.
Departing passengers will undergo temperature screening at the entrance of Terminal 3 departures.
Only passengers and persons with business in the terminal will be allowed entry.
